Hydrofracturing & Abandoned Well Grouting
Increase your well's production rates with hydrofracturing, or safely seal decommissioned wells with abandoned well grouting — serving all of Midcoast Maine.
How Hydrofracking Works
Hydrofracking — hydrofracturing — involves injecting water under high pressure into bedrock via the well itself. Besides its use in new water well drilling, hydrofracking restores recovery rates in older wells with increasingly compromised yields.
This process increases the extent and size of existing bedrock fractures, which enlarges the network of water-bearing fractures and expands the size of the water supply area. Hydrofracturing is particularly effective for wells in Bristol, Maine and surrounding Midcoast areas where bedrock formations are common.
When We Apply Hydrofracturing
- New deep-drilled wells with marginal production rates
- Pre-existing wells with diminishing recovery rates
- Wells affected by mineralization and rock fracture incrustation
- Any well where air rotary drilling didn't achieve adequate yield
Safely Sealing Decommissioned Wells
Abandoned well grouting is the complete sealing of a well or borehole. We use a fluid mixture of cement and water, bentonite and water, or a combination of both — whichever provides the solid, permanent seal required for your well type.
Common Reasons for Well Grouting
- Decommissioned or unusable well poses a safety hazard
- Well has contaminated groundwater
- Decline in aquifer pressure head
- Property development requiring well removal
